Art Deco vulcanite brooch with a central medal of the Virgin of Lourdes and Saint Bernadette, circa 1930-1940. A religious mourning jewelry piece with a geometric design and an elegant elongated silhouette.

Made of vulcanite, also known as ebonite, this brooch combines the sober aesthetic characteristic of mourning jewelry with a renowned Marian devotional representation. The central medal shows the apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes to Saint Bernadette, a motif widely disseminated in religious jewelry of the first half of the 20th century. Its linear and symmetrical shape reflects Art Deco influence, while the intense black color of the vulcanite links it to traditions of mourning and remembrance. A piece of interest for collectors of both religious jewelry and historical mourning objects.
