Oval box in German 800 silver, richly decorated with a repoussé scene on the lid: two cherubs (putti) in a playful pose, seated in a natural setting, manipulating a birdcage, while a bird flies freely above them. The motif symbolizes innocence, freedom, and childhood play, very much in keeping with the historicist decorative style.

The sides are decorated with a band of floral motifs in high relief, while the interior is entirely gilded with vermeil, including an additional scene on the inner lid, featuring the same cherubs in relief. This type of box was originally designed as a pillbox or vanity case, and today it is a highly prized decorative and collectible piece.
