This refined round box of embossed silver is an outstanding example of early 20th-century craftsmanship, imported to France. The exterior of the box is finely decorated with a romantic scene in relief, depicting a lady holding a lyre amidst elegant scrolls and floral motifs characteristic of the Victorian ornamental style, still popular in the early years of the 20th century.
Marked with the prestigious swan hallmark. This hallmark, introduced in 1864, was applied to silver objects imported into France from countries without customs agreements, confirming their foreign origin and authenticity in the French market. It also bears the letters "JR," the signature of the silversmith who crafted it, adding historical value to this piece.
