Antique crucifix of mother-of-pearl and silver, devotional cross with baroque Christ and ribbon
Out of stock
Antique devotional crucifix made of carved mother-of-pearl and decorated with baroque silver finials. Sacred piece, circa 1900.
This delicate crucifix, rich in symbolism and beauty, was conceived as a personal object of faith, used in intimate ceremonies and as a gift. The cross is made of iridescent white mother-of-pearl, supported by fine Baroque silver finials, and features a meticulously detailed relief figure of Christ.
Mother-of-pearl, associated with purity, the sea, and divinity, was frequently used in religious objects for its soft luster and ability to reflect light in celestial hues. The ornate corners and top ring allow it to be worn as a pendant, as part of a rosary, or as a wall reliquary.
The white ribbon, which still retains its original shape, reinforces its possible ceremonial use, probably offered as a sacramental gift.
A unique religious jewel, ideal for collectors of sacred art, devotees of Catholic symbolism, or those seeking a mystical piece full of soul and memory.
