Antique religious devotional cross, crafted of natural mother-of-pearl and silver, with openwork appliqués in a neo-Gothic style at the ends and a central relief of Christ. This piece, dated between 1910 and 1920, features a symmetrical structure with scrollwork finials and stylized plant motifs in cast silver, which reinforce its ornamental character. The inscription "INRI" appears on a small plaque applied to the top. The reverse is flat, with visible clasps and a top ring for hanging.
The contrast between the polished mother-of-pearl and the solid silver elements is characteristic of early 20th-century French productions, intended for both liturgical and domestic worship. This type of pendant cross was common in large rosaries, personal devotional practices, and private chapels. Its design reflects the transition between the historicist aesthetic of the 19th century and the more refined lines of the first quarter of the 20th century.
Ideal for gifts or collectors of sacred art, as a devotional item, or to integrate into religious compositions. It can be displayed hanging, framed, or used as a central cross in an antique rosary.
