Devotional cross in natural mother-of-pearl and silver with Christ in relief, 1910s

Devotional cross in natural mother-of-pearl and silver with Christ in relief, 1910s

Out of stock

Antique devotional religious cross, crafted from natural mother-of-pearl and silver, with openwork Neo-Gothic appliqués at the ends and a central relief of Christ. This piece, dating from between 1910 and 1920, features a symmetrical structure with scroll finials and stylized vegetal motifs in cast silver, which enhance its ornamental character. The inscription "INRI" appears on a small plaque applied to the top. The reverse is flat, with visible clasps and a ring at the top for hanging.

The contrast between polished mother-of-pearl and solid silver elements is characteristic of early 20th-century French productions, intended for both liturgical and domestic use. This type of pendant cross was common in large rosaries, personal devotional practices, and private chapels. Its design reflects the transition between the historicist aesthetic of the 19th century and the more refined lines of the first quarter of the 20th century.

Ideal as a gift or for collectors of sacred art, as an object of devotion, or for integration into religious compositions. It can be displayed hanging, framed, or used as a central cross in an antique rosary.
