Antique solid silver thimble with scene from the fable "The Fox and the Stork" by Jean de La Fontaine, circa early 20th century.
The thimble features a figurative relief with the characters from the fable surrounding the body: the fox and the stork amidst vegetal motifs. The upper part has a textured grid surface to facilitate its use in sewing. La Fontaine's fables were a popular decorative theme on small silver objects in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
