Antique reliquary with five relics sealed in gilded metal and precious stones,
Antique reliquary with five relics sealed in gilded metal and precious stones,
Out of stock
Antique reliquary from the mid-19th century, made of gilt metal, designed to be hung vertically or horizontally. The piece features a stylized cross-shaped structure with symmetrical floral finials, each adorned with red and green glass cabochons in open settings. The central element is protected by glass, beneath which, as far as the eye can see, are preserved the remains of at least five individual relics, sealed with red wax. Although the original handwritten labels are visible, they are difficult to read due to the opacity of the glass in some areas. The reliquary has not been opened to preserve the integrity of the contents and the original wax seal. We have included a high-contrast photograph that may aid in deciphering the names.
The back features a removable oval lid, three hanging rings, and the engraved mark “33” alongside another stamp, possibly a batch number or workshop reference. Its austere yet devotional design reflects the religious taste of the Catholic tradition in continental Europe around 1850.
Ideal as a collector's item for lovers of historical liturgy, devotional objects, or sacred jewelry. It can also be used in exhibitions or as a symbolic piece in spiritual or Victorian-inspired styles.
