This antique 'Vamp' crown is a rare find, discovered amongst the stock of a French haberdashery that operated between 1900 and 1940. We believe this hair accessory dates to the 1910s or 1920s and is a unique piece that combines vivid red, garnet-like crystals with a geometric design of ornamental horns or bold spikes - hallmarks of 1920s style. The metal frame holds faceted stones that sparkle with dramatic intensity, giving the hair a theatrical feel.

This type of accessory was commonly used in ceremonial or stage costumes, highlighting important characters or mythological figures. Although the crown has a geometric and symmetrical structure typical of Art Deco, the materials and decoration are reminiscent of Art Nouveau, where the use of colored crystals and brass were key. Decorative crowns like this were popular at formal events, weddings or theatrical productions, reflecting the opulence and exoticism that characterized the stage and ceremonial fashion of the time.
